Radio Luxembourg jingles
  • radiomannradiomann April 2007
Hi all, just wondered if any one has any off the new Luxy jingles yet?

    Thanks in advance

Hi Radioman, I don't know if you are still interested, but here is a montage of Radio Luxembourg (DR 2006) jingles.

I should get out more - I didn't know they were back! where can I listen to them - on the internet I assume...

I know the "new" Luxy Jingles are not that new but they will never stand up to those produced by Tuesday Productions for "The Great 208"

Yes you CAN listen to radio luxembourg online

    www.radioluxembourg.co.uk

But having said that things aren't going too well on the DRM front though;RTL Group/bce/clt have dropped the 24:7 Digital Radio Mondiale transmissions on Shortwave 25795kHz(0.15kW)to Luxembourg City, and have reduced transmission hours of RTL France on 5990kHz Digital Radio Mondiale-SW(50kW) and RTL Germany on 6095kHz Digital Radio Mondiale-SW(50kW) to 07:30-21:00hours UTC and they've also discontinued the the overnight european Digital Radio Mondiale-MW transmissions on 208m/1440kHz(120kW) between 12midnight and 03:50UK time(01:00-04:50CET) but strangely they still do the the daylight DRM-MW transmission to Germany tho' because of a general lack of DRM receivers in the marketplace for consumers(and Digital Radio Mondiale is a digital AM radio transmission standard for Shortwave/Mediumwave and Longwave;basically this replaces analogue AM with a digital signal which can give very good near FM quality mono and stereo sound and improved reception and audio fidelity over large AM distances and eliminates many of the problems of analogue AM,splatter fading whistling and interference).

    If you want a receiver then;

    www.igear.com

is the place to get a Morphy Richards DRM Radio at £149.99.

Roberts and Sangean have delayed the launch of their MP40 and DRM40 multiband DRM radios AGAIN and have NO firm release dates at this point.

If you wish to email roberts and find out when their MP40 will be released(don't hold your breath though) then you can:

Couldn`t agree more Ticky, the Tuesday Productions package is superb and the last jingle in your audio must be one of the greatest jingles of all time or is it just me being patriotic - "Radio Luxembourg 208 Great Britain"...

Who did the Radio Luxembourg DRM 2006 jingles?

"is it just me being patriotic - "Radio Luxembourg 208 Great Britain"

Not quite sure how they're "patriotic" David! I've stood right outside those red-and-white transmitter towers
& the plant room - and they're definately NOT in the UK! (unless we've started painting all our road signs in yellow!)

And RTL is owned by...the Germans (as is now 1/2 of UK radio, UK gas, UK electricity, UK... )

And weren't the "...Great Britain" Luxy jingles originally for good old KHJ Los Angeles?

(and once again Roy - can we please have the "emotions" back, as I'm struggling for something
    to express "tongue-in-cheek"!)

Wow ! your`re hot off the press tonight Iain (sarcasm is the best form of wit) look, I`m ducking and diving from those punches !

Nevertheless, still a great jingle IMHO.

All joking aside (and I DO miss the emoticons!), it was indeed a great TOH cut - didn't "wimp-out" like many
do today (or worse, just go "beep" before the newsreader starts talking about Celebrities...er,...sorry "News"...).

Just as a (very vague) link...many people on "another Forum" moan about Ofcom now allowing stations to
"co-locate" and have their programming "delivered" from outside their TSA - but really Luxy was the ultimate
in that - their programmes until the advent of high quality international links were pre-recorded in London on disk and later tape, and then couriered to the Grand Duchy for transmission.

PS - I found some of the old 1960s "Green is Go" set of "Colourful, Radio, Luxembourg" jingles recently.
They're not original dubs, but perhaps if someone has a better quality copy they could post a montage
of them up for the Newbies to hear?

    Hi Wixy

I specialise in the older jingles! Here's a montage I have (I didn't put it together myself).

    Enjoy....
