The Golden Hour, The Golden Years jingle montage...
  • BarrasBarras February 2012
Yesterday, I was dubbing the Radio 1 golden year jingles for another collector and it got me thinking, there must be hundreds of “golden” jingles out there in radio land, here`s a small sample of some of those jingles sitting on my hard-drives. I`ve always associated Simon Bates with the “golden hour” concept but as you can hear, the first jingle in the montage is the “golden hour” jingle for Tony Blackburn.

A LOT of potential there I think...!

    Excellent montage.
I love Century 21's Highway 21 WNSR (or was it WENS?) resing @1m37s.

I'd have given my 'high teeth' to get mornings on Radio 1, with the 'Golden Howwer' and 'Owwr Songg'..... when they had THE best JAM jingles ever...

The Bates jingle at 0.32 is AWFUL compared to the original JAM Radio 1 cuts...

By the way the GEM cut at 1.21 is not one I did, it's from 1994 and one of the few JAM packages I did not rate. It tried to do a 'Jet Set' but 'never took off' for me....

Rather liked the "Good Time Radio" package myself. A nice homage to the PAMS material even if a bit synthy in places.

Thanks gamewizard, Highway 21 was sung for WIL St Louis/WSM Nashville. BTW you can hear the pseudo-Irish accent @ 1m37s, as the cut is from the 2FM dub.

    D'oh! Of course it was.
I had the right station name (WNSR) wrong package. I meant Double Power :)

Great Golden Montage David--I bet it could easily expand past 3:44--

That same cut at 1:37 perked my ear as well - 'Where did I hear that before' - as I often say many times when listening to jingles lol

Anyway I figured it out -it was in Chicago in 1990--this ones off-air
