97.4 Rock Fm 1993 Jam Jingles
  • LoveJingles1LoveJingles1 October 2011
Does anyone remember the 97.4 Rock FM - 1993 JAM jingles, such as:

"More of the best music, Rock FM"

"Music all summer long, Rock FM"

    "Nine-Seven-Four, Rock FM"

Top of the Hour, Breakthrough 1993 "Rocking the North West, Red Rose Rock FM"

"Weekends mean music on Rock FM"

    "97.4, Rock FM"

"Get up, Get up, Come on get all the way up, on Rock FM" ?

Does anyone know if they are available ?

"Available" is a bit difficult..one cannot buy a dub (legally).

Copies DO exist "out there" - would you perhaps have something to swap for a dub?

There were two versions of that cut. The original Breakthrough cut from 1990 was sung as "Rock FM". The second was a Steve England remix with JAM vocals as "Red Rose Rock FM".

Thanks a lot JingleUploads, they bring back memories.

I certainly remember hearing the first one from 1990 styled as "Rock FM", but I don't think the re-mixed version attached from 1995 was played on-air as "Red Rose Rock FM".

The 1990 version was used as any other JAM jingle and not as the TOH jingle, as Rock FM had a policy of not playing jingles after the news bulletins for the first year or so, which was very unusual for a pop/rock music station.

When they scrapped the on-the-hour news bulletin, that is when it became the TOH jingle and name "Red Rose" was dropped on-air around late 1991/early 1992.

When the "Red Rose" name was re-introduced on-air in early 1993, they re-used the original breakthrough bed of 1990, but was sung as "Red Rose Rock FM".

When they started to phase out the "Red Rose" name again around 1995-1996, the jingle was re-mixed as "Rock FM" style, using the same bed as the re-mixed one attached to this thread.

The remixed version attached is a hybrid of the:

    - "Rock FM" style re-mixed bed of 1995; and
    - the singing style from the 1993 "Red Rose Rock FM" TOH.

Howdy, Stranger!
