what's going on with Jam?
  • tyty21tyty21 January 25
I've been looking over at the ascap catalog for any new jam, and there's plenty of it going around. I know I haven't done a montage in a good while. I will, in fact, I plan to do a jam montage of their work they've done within recent time.

I don't understand the topic title.
    It must be clickbait.
  • I'll look forward to the montage tyty21
I agree with gameswizard about the topic title. Of course if this was Buzzfeed, the title would be "JAM, you're not going to believe what they're up to. The third jingle will make you cry!"

Noticing various new stations appearing in the logo carousel on their website:

"Noticing various new stations appearing in the logo carousel on their website"

Certainly is - but wonder how many are, say, within the last 6 months?
e.g. have WNIC Dearborn/Detroit possibly "gone back to JAM"?

Would be nice (sorry, pun not intended!!!) if JMW "published" an occasional "sampler" of "recent clients" work,
something that other producers occasionally did in the past.

Last update was back in April, shortly before the Streamline demo was added.

There are a few outdated stations on there - KEZN (Sunny 103.1) changed formats, while WOLX and WIKZ (Mix 95.1) switched to Reelworld. Most of them should still be current clients though.

WNIC is there because they have retro JAM jingles on their "iHeart80s Weekends", similar to how Radio 2 is there because of Pick of the Pops.

wait, WIKZ switched? really? well, I know KYBG did a switch as well mike.
  • mjb1124mjb1124 January 26
Yeah, they're using the Sunny 99.1/Star Radio package from Reelworld. I was surprised too.

Another station on the list that flipped formats: I see that the former CJUI has gone from Oldies to Soft AC as CKOO "Soft 103.9", after a little over a year. Not sure what the jingle situation is now. Never got to hear what they were using before.

EDIT: Alas, seems there are no jingles at the moment.

Can I answer the question "what's going on with Jam?" rhetorically....

Well to start with they have managed to maintain that incredible vocal sound despite losing 3 great singers in as many years...

Jon is clearly LOVING being 'on the radio' on Rewound... and deserves some 'play time' after running the longest-lasting jingle company in history...

Compare PAMS and JAM and cut-for-cut, package for package... JAM has to win overall...

I know they are always busy as for personal cuts we always accept a delay of any length between delivery and order.. (it takes time to make [great] things...)

..the 'ebb and flow' of stations changing jingle companies has ALWAYS been there... it is often more to do with money/ the 'suits'... than the quality/ usability of the jingles...

I think we have to 'thank our lucky stars' that Jon is not retiring..... dread the thought!!

Do you have a link to said ascap catalog?

Noah, I haven't been in to the ASCAP website for years, so I've just now had to relearn a bit!

Try this link as a starting point
