Final Network Chart
  • rakrak December 2018
Today saw the final Network Chart. I think it started around September 1984, with Standard Sound jingles and a bit of mashed up Capital imaging.

I've had a dig around, but could only find this short Killer Music montage - possibly introduced when Capital had its first Dain Blair package in '89?

Anyone got the original package they could post a montage of?

The end of this chart show was probably inevitable, as why would Bauer want to take a Global chart show when they're trying to build up the Hits Network, and possibly drop the Heritage names? The Mancs have probably forgotten Key 103 already, sadly. They'll have been doing some research over the last few months.

And it was only a Top 30 when it started.

and the sung jingle lifted from the YouTube video

David Jenson never did it for me and I have never had anyone other than him say “ Counting Up” normally it’s counting down

As immortalised in The JAM Song section about the late Casey Kasem “Counting Them Up And Counting Them Down”!

Well I have hundreds hours of Casey Kasem and I can’t remember him saying Counting them Up

I am sure someone said it or Jon would not have put it in a song !!

But can’t remember Casey saying it

Dan Ingram said "counting them up"...

I interpret the lyrics about what the show itself does rather than what the presenter may or may not say.

"We're countin' 'em up and countin' em down
On the shows that count the most
Rick Dees! Scott Shannon! Dan Ingram
    And Casey's coast to coast"
