Jam jingle airchecks p2
  • tyty21tyty21 October 2015
It seems the old Jam airchecks thread has been quiet. I thought I'd revive the thread, but make a fresh new start. while looking through the ascap database, I found 6 new guys, aside from the usual suspects. montages to come throughout tonight and tomorrow.
Jam is back in Nashville's backyard with WHPY in Bellview, TN
They're now back in Omaha after a few years, now can be heard on 1490 the boomer KOMJ
They're now in the Atlanta suburb of Winder on WJBB
Back to Tennessee, the west end near Union City/Jackson, their's WHPP Humbolt.

    To Gaffney, SC at WZZQ
and finally to the mountains in Utah on KYMV
  • tyty21tyty21 October 2015
here's a short sampler of the jingles that can be heard on 104.3 WZZQ in Gaffney, SC. feel free to add on!

A great idea to revive this thread - back in the 80s and 90s, when Jon sent newly re-sung compilations (on cassette!) to clients I was amazed how MUCH material JAM was producing - no one could keep up with it. I still have a few of those fuzzy cassettes. So many of these packages are still 100% fresh it's no wonder they are being sung overandoveragain !

Any North American Jinglemadder who can record local airchecks I'd love to hear the JAM cuts from Oldies stations in particular.

    Thanks - Len

well... do I have 2 great stations for you!! WMVO in Mount Vernon, Ohio and WTTF in Tiffin, Ohio. Both using a composite you won't believe. Won't tell what it is... let's just say, it's not the average composite that Classic hits/oldies stations pick out today.
  • IainJohnstonIainJohnston October 2015
"how MUCH material JAM was producing"

Someone recently suggested that JAM's main vocal sessions these days are (usually) on Thursdays... (and I believe KenR was Mondays...)

At their busiest, 1980s/90s, can Jon say what the "studio load" was like ? :^)
  • LenGroatLenGroat October 2015
TyTy: thank you - look forward to hearing them - Love the name of the Tiffin place - it's a kind of snack in the UK, a very old fashioned word!

Hmmm.... on Dropbox I'm getting Error (403) even when signed in.

  • gameswizardgameswizard October 2015
    Thanks :)
  • glenglen October 2015
So did I. Just a error message
  • LenGroatLenGroat October 2015
    Thanks TyTy

Sounds like PAMS to me - but (oops) I don't recognise the package.

    I guessing it's JAM re-creating the sound!?
  • tyty21tyty21 October 2015
I know, for WMVO, 2 of them. they featured a Pams WCBS grid, (not goldmine or gold evolution.) another was a cut from one of pams last few series, 47, perhaps? the others were from a pams late 60's early 70's grid. All were jam vocals, though
  • mjb1124mjb1124 October 2015
I had heard some of the WTTF cuts before, and was wondering about the source of them myself. I did recognize one from a PAMS WCBS-FM package as you said. I was particularly curious about the last cut in the WTTF montage, which I also heard (along with the same weather cut WTTF uses) around the same time on "Real Gold Radio" WAXT.

I believe that both WTTF and WMVO use Westwood One's syndicated "Good Time Oldies" service - could this be a composite for them? Some could be related to Scott Shannon's True Oldies Channel as well - a few of the WMVO cuts use that lyric, and I know Jon posted a TOC cut in a montage a while back that had a similar feel. Then again, I don't think WAXT was/is affiliated with either, as their playlist went very deep when I heard it.

Also, I already added it to the SoundCloud channel, but I might as well post it here too. WCBS-FM is using the famous Turbo Z TOH now, complete with the "serving the universe" lyric. I haven't heard any other new resings, but I will keep my ears peeled.

  • tyty21tyty21 October 2015
Well, MJB, long time no hear! where ya been! I know for one, WTTF and WMVO are sisters, both owned by BAS broadcasting. so that might just be the case. speaking of which, there are 3 others using the TZ TOH. KEYF, WHPY, and WSNN, (in a certain someone's former work location... does WNTC ring a bell?)
  • michimichi October 2015
When I was in the Catskills for the Grassroots Radio Conference, oldies station WGNY-FM was running JAM sung PAMS cuts. I know another station in that area that may get PAMS cuts.. (I can't disclose who they are yet..)
  • tyty21tyty21 November 2015
here's more jam, on a hot AC. WNOI Flora, IL. It's a little out of the box choice for this type of station, but I love it!

  • LenGroatLenGroat November 2015
Thanks TYTY: Great to hear the whole 'Do It Again' package re-sung. One of my very favourite JAM packages - it's timeless and fits so many formats- and perfect for Oldies.
  • glenglen November 2015
Wow ! Alot of words for a toh
  • tyty21tyty21 November 2015
'Wow ! Alot of words for a toh'
    right? Amazing, though.
  • glenglen November 2015
Yep a lot of words.Usually you hear as more than one city
    Really good
  • tyty21tyty21 November 2015
need your Jam fix on KOST? they might not be on the main channel anymore, however, they're now on their HD-2 channel, KOST classics.

Listen to their sung legal id at 20 seconds in.. that frequency being sung sounds alot like 102.9 and not 103.9
  • glenglen December 2015
I always wanted to know what it sounds like with K call letters
  • tyty21tyty21 March 2016
let's get this thread back up and active again! Over the months, i've been looking at different stations, found 2 stations, and a syndicated show using Jam. KGEZ Kalispell, MT, and KTMb, Anchorage, AK both using jam. now for a certain somebody who is looking for a station that's playing Oldies, not the stations we call oldies now, but the ones that play it like back in the 90's and early 2k, when it was 50's/60's/70's, let me tell ya, KGEZ and KOMJ are the ones for you! however, there is a good news bad news station here, which is KEZW, which took the place of KRWZ, the good news is, they're still with dallas, the bad news, the jam jingles are out.
the syndicated show, no not america's greatest hits, but the classic countdown with dick bartley is using a jam custom package.
  • tyty21tyty21 April 2016
and yet another station is Jamming again, well, make it 2. first, in Southwest Florida, there were 3 stations using jam throughout the years. WRTI laser 93.5, WOLZ oldiez 95, and the one that still remains now, WINK-FM in fort myres. using a killer composit from KIIS. also, a certain someone on JM, not naming any names, but has a Z package composit in their old home turf, pre Dallas. I'll give you a hent, Potsdam
  • tyty21tyty21 June 2016
here's more jam, and you're gonna love this one, it's a guarantee! Just call this a sneak peak at the montage I'm working on. 1 of the stations.

    It isn't JAM though.

  • tyty21tyty21 June 2016
well, lets just say jam/pams and company then. Pams cuts, using jam singers, and a few non jam/pams cuts. Just went by the ones who have the rights the first time LOL.
  • I'm unable to play or download it in my ISP browser or via F-fox.

Can we have it via s/c please?
Or can GW "transpond" from one media to another for us (bet most of you haven't heard THAT term in a while!) ?
    :^)
  • Or can GW "transpond" from one media to another for us

For those who need it :)

  • Thanks GW :^)

"need" - yes - aye - there's a difference between "needing" and "wanting"...!

Homer Simson meets KenR meets "cut & shut" jingle editing - some nice sono though...

The newly-launched "Oldies 98" in Suffolk County NY (Long Island) is using JAM resings from Priority One, Positron, and Class Action possibly among others. This is actually WPTY's HD2 channel being relayed on a translator. Aircheck to follow.

  • tyty21tyty21 December 2016
MJB, i do remember reading over on radio insight, that the PD described it as how radio used to sound. one thing that instantly got me, was when he said "lots of jingles," instant getter! Jingles By who, remained a mystery to me, til now! I knew he'd picked a winner!
  • tyty21tyty21 December 2016
While we're on the "new stations" subject, WPLZ in Chatanooga TN has got a jam package on air, with a TOH being from an out-of-box package choice. Nonstop Power!

    https://soundcloud.com/jerseyjinglefan/oldies-98-long-island-212017-jingle-aircheck

As promised, here's a jingle aircheck of Long Island's Oldies 98. Priority One, Positron, Pro/Mod, and Class Action featured here, along with (rather randomly) a KOST news intro.

Next one will be WDZN in Maryland, using the WDRC-FM Right Direction package.
  • tyty21tyty21 February 6
Mike, there are a lot of good stations we can montage, WGUY, WBAN, and WWNZ in the Bangor area, (especially WGUY,) as they just broke their simulcast with WRMO, WPLZ, a ton of noobies over the last 2 years we haven't got
  • LenGroatLenGroat February 6
    MJB

Thanks for the Oldies 98 aircheck - a GREAT use of classic JAM jingles and great oldies, fabulous sound continuity... !
  • IainJohnstonIainJohnston February 6
"Oldies 98" is a strange beast - not actually a "proper" primary "call-lettered" station as such - its actually
an HD-2 IBOC digital sideband (i.e. where no-one is really listening) to another station on 98.1, but is
therefore FCC permitted to re-broadcast the HD-2 audio on analogue FM on what the USA calls a "translator",
i.e. an FM relay call-sign W251BY, which is a very back-to-front way of doing things - but it all seems to work
out fine and they get plenty of chatter about it on USA radio forums.

And the jingles do exactly what they're supposed to do for the format in question :^)
  • nleibonleibo February 7
The jingles--although produced by Jam-- sound somewhat "TM"-ish

  • tyty21tyty21 March 3
for some more jam, check out KEGK, 106.9 the eagle.
