Suddenly it's almost Christmas and we of course reflect on the year that is ending and look forward to the next. I'd like to send Season's Greetings to everyone I've exchanged messages with this year, and thanks to Roy and Neal for this specialist site. It certainly got a lot of attention when the Grimes 'no sung jingles' fiasco /stunt happened.

Regardless of fashions, or whims of un-proven radio presenters or producers, there will ALWAYS be sung jingles on GOOD stations, simple because they WORK ! And I think most of us on here know WHERE to find those singers, which is not necessarily just a short walk from where your station is based. As I've posted a lot of JAM material lately, I'll celebrate the Dallas singers with a re-post of part of a Christmas medley arranged by the late Tom Merriman for automaton displays in malls in the USA over 20 years ago, given to me by his wife Jackie. This is what I play as we have our Christmas meal. I posted the set last year, think they are now gone from here, but they are still on 4Shared

This was brought up here a few years ago as to the origins of this WLS summer cut; without any resolve lol-- running thru an old tape from June 1977 I found a TOH that I think I faintly remember; but-- it sounds like a really good edit-- the "chicago" is obvious; but the main vocal sounds odd--? or maybe there just was a fast and a slow. Here are both. The TOH from 1977 and the fast cut from 1981 (still using it) off air.

A Tom Merriman Christmas

Here is something special to share for Christmas.

In 1990 when I was in Dallas staying with Jackie and Tom during the Trent/GEM jingle sessions Jackie said 'here's a small present' for you...' It was a tape cassette with a copy of Christmas music Tom had arranged and produced for large seasonal automaton shows inside vast shopping malls throughout America.

The client must have had a large budget as it is traditional songs, with a full orchestra, but sung by THE Dallas jingle singers, all beautifully orchestrated by Tom. I particularly like the way he uses tempo transitions to go from song to song.

I do not think I've seen this on here before ~ there are 7 tracks, here is the first.

We exchanged emails a few years back.

Anyway, I was looking on YouTube at some of the programmes I enjoyed as a child and came across one called Ace of Wands.

The theme song has a hook that sounds like a Capital Radio jingle and the singers even sound the same too.

What say you?

Need Ken R. CD track list help

I have some Ken R. CDs that came to me from another collector without the accompanying track lists, and a couple have defied my ability to match up the tracks exactly to what's listed in the Ken R. catalog...

If anyone could post the complete track lists for CW-06 (Super CFL) and DT-01 (CHUM 1050 Toronto Volume III), it would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and I could also use an ID on Track 5 of DJ-17 (Stuck in the '60s Volume III), which is an instrumental track that I can't identify beyond the fact that it probably comes alphabetically between BankAmericard (Track 4) and Borden (Track 6).

WLS JAM Christmas Jingles

Does anyone have any Christmas jingles and imaging for 89 WLS? The only one I have been able to find online is the Outstanding "Your Christmas Wish" jingle. Does anyone know if they ordered any full christmas packages or if they just ordered a few cuts here and there? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Don't know if anyone else caught this but on yesterday's PM programme on Radio 4 we heard a couple of JAM jingles from the BBC Radio 1 & 2 1976 packages. Firstly Eddie Mair having fun with the old Radio 1 travel news jingle and then an archive clip from 1981 with Gavin Campbell reading a Radio 2 news bulletin.
